Course Information
This work-based qualification is aimed at learners who are working or want to work with children in an Early Year’s settings in England only. It could lead to employment as an early years educator, childminder or nursery nurse. It allows learners to demonstrate competence as an Early Years Educator, Childminder or Nursery Nurse. To gain this qualification, learners must achieve a total of 64 credits from all 23 mandatory units:

Entry Requirement
Learners must have achieved a Grade C or above in GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics.

Course Delivery
This qualification is assessed using an externally verified Portfolio of Evidence that consists of evidence gathered during the learner’s work. All units that assess competence MUST be assessed in the workplace. To achieve a pass for the qualification, the learner must earn all the required units in the stated qualification structure. To pass each unit the learner must prove that the evidence is their own. The learner must have an assessment record that identifies the assessment criteria they have met, and students should reference it to the evidence provided. The assessment record should include details of the type of evidence and the assessment date. The unit specification or suitable centre documentation can be used to form an assessment record.
