Advance Apprenticeship in Business Administration

The Business Administration apprenticeships are designed to provide work-based training, development and new learning opportunities, to develop your knowledge and skills within the workplace. Every business needs effective administration and that need remains whatever else changes in terms of new products and services, new technologies and new organisational structures.
Administrators suitable for the level 3 apprenticeship undertake a wide range of complex tasks in a variety of work contexts. They have a high degree of autonomy and responsibility and may provide some supervisory support.
Job roles could include: Administration officer/Executive
 Administration team leader/ office Supervisor
 Personal Assistant (PA)
 Secretary
This Apprenticeship provides the breadth and depth of skills and knowledge needed for employment in Business and Administration
Total minimum credit value for this pathway: 73 credits
Combined qualification – 58 credits
Transferable skills – 15 credits (English, mathematics and ICT).

Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration (QCF)

The Level 3 Diploma in Business Administration includes both knowledge and competenceunits. Learners must complete a minimum of 58 credits. 27 credits from mandatory units, a minimum of 13 credits from Group B optional units, a maximum of 10 credits from Group C optional unit, and a maximum of 8 credits from Group D optional units. A minimum of 40 credits must be achieved through the completion of units at Level 3 or above.

Employee rights and responsibilities

The Employee Rights and Responsibilities component of the apprenticeship can be achieved
through either:1. A QCF ERR Qualification/Unit:
• The L/506/1905 Employee rights and responsibilities unit (QCF) – this is an optional unit included within the combined qualification
• The Level 2 Award in Employee Rights and Responsibilities (QCF) – this qualification is offered by a range of organisations
• Any other approved unit or qualification listed in Skills CFA FAQ

Progression routes into and from this pathway
Progression into this advanced apprenticeship may be from a wide number of routes due to the varying backgrounds and past academic and work related experiences of apprentices. Such varying backgrounds and past academic and work related experiences of apprentices. Such routes will including having:
• Achieved a Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Business Administration
• Achieved QCF Awards, Certificates or Diplomas
• Achieved a (14 – 19) Foundation or Higher Diploma
• Achieved GCSEs or A Levels.
Learners may also progress into the advanced apprenticeship without prior qualifications.

Advanced apprentices, with support and opportunities in the workplace, can progress onto:
• The Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship in Business & Professional Administration
• Further or higher education to undertake business related or other qualifications, including Foundation Degrees in areas such as business, business management, and business administration
• A range of business and management undergraduate programmes
• A range of business professional qualifications at level 4 and above.
