Course Information
The NCFE Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an introductory teaching qualification. Depending upon the optional units chosen, a learner will either need to take part in microteaching (Unit 02) or teaching practice in the work environment (Unit 03 and Unit 04). This qualification consists of one mandatory unit and 5 optional units. The mandatory units are:

• Unit 01 Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training

Optional Units:

• Unit 01 Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training
• Unit 02 Facilitate Learning and Development for Individuals
• Unit 03 Facilitate Learning and Development in Groups
• Unit 04 Understanding Assessment in Education and Training
• Unit 05 Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment

Entry Requirement
Entry is at the discretion of the centre. However, learners should be aged 19 or over to undertake the qualification.

Course Delivery
This qualification has adapted to the delivery and assessment that the Education and Training Foundation have agreed upon. Students will still need to prepare a portfolio of evidence. We encourage centres to review our guidance on the types and method of evidence that we permit; this includes the use of video, photos and other digital means of demonstrating knowledge and skills.

Students are still required to complete the work placement, but the focus should be on learning outcomes and evidencing competence. We have removed the requirement for students to complete a minimum number of placement hours; students should still be recording their hours.
